Lesson
What does self-consciousness imply? It means that we are primarily conscious of our outer surroundings, our outer setting. People, things, incidents, objects, are of minor importance. We should not give them first place. What is the most important thing for workers to be conscious of? The task they are going to perform. What is the most important thing for students to be conscious of? Their study. If they are conscious of anything else, no matter what it is, it is an impediment to their success. Self-consciousness is always a drawback in life.
Prayer
All-merciful One, grant me strength to cast off all self-love and self-will.
Help me to rise above all alien thoughts.
May I learn through Your grace to overcome all selfish impulses.
May I lose myself in unceasing devotion to You.
May I seek You at all times with ardor of spirit.
